Your Work is in the Numbers: Carrie Underwood and “The Sound of Music”

I decided to check out NBC’s live broadcast of “The Sound of Music” last night because of the polarizing comments and reaction about singer Carrie Underwood playing the role of Maria–a lot for it, and a lot against it.

After it was all said, sang, and done, I went to work on Carrie Underwood’s numbers. Carrie, born 3/10/1983, is a Pisces 7, which is an interesting combination. Pisces is a sign that complements being in the entertainment industry, but the 7 is a number that can suggest spirituality and self-awareness, and there can be a strong need for solitude and withdrawal. That could explain her not considering singing as a career choice until her “Idol” experience, when she expressed nervousness about being on the stage in front of millions of people.

Why would Underwood consider taking on this role? The answer is that she is in a  1 Year Career Cycle, which is all about taking on new things. The energy of the 1 Year is to change directions, and is a year of reinvention. This is the year for her to cultivate talents, and to bravely move forward, much like a pioneer.

Lastly, it was interesting to note the energy of the day of the live broadcast for her. The musical aired 12/5/2013, which was a 3 Personal Day for Underwood. Great day for a musical! The 3 is all about creative self-expression, and for one either finding or using his or her voice–and acting and singing would fit that bill. The 3 highlights the performing arts.

Whether you watched or not, whether you liked her performance or not, it will be interesting to see how taking this project on will play out in her career.
