Success in 12 Months: Who’s Your Opposite?

weaknesses on forehead

Welcome back to our “Success in 12 Months” blog series, and here we are now in the second week of Month 6. The topic for this month is the idea of “acting as if.”

A lot of people worry about the qualities they lack. People worry they lack confidence, grace or charm. They worry they don’t belong. They worry that they might not be up to the task.

The best way to deal with these insecurities? Fake it. Or, more appropriately, for this series: Fake it until you make it.

If you aren’t confident, or you feel like you don’t belong…act like you do. “Act as if” you were the person you want to be. This month’s exercises will help you learn how to “act as if”.

Last week, your exercise was to identify some weaknesses you have. You were to truly look within yourself and find negative personality traits and/or weaknesses that you think you have.

Some examples could’ve been:

  • lazy
  • not confident
  • fearful
  • not a good speaker
  • not punctual
  • procrastinate,  etc…

You were to have a list of 5.

Your Exercise This Week: Who’s Your Opposite?

This week, for each weakness you came up with, think of someone you know that doesn’t have that weakness. You can think about people in your life, celebrities, business people, or anyone else.

For each weakness on your list, list someone who embodies the opposite. So, if you have a list of 5 weaknesses, you will have 5 names of people who embody the opposite.

That’s it for this week. We’ll take this exercise deeper next week.

If you are finding that you need some support at this point in your path toward success, consider getting a FREE Mapping  Session with me, which you can learn more about here.

Until next week…

James
