Today’s Tarot: Family Legacy
There’s a new addition to the Mitchell family. My nephew and his wife welcomed in their second child, Jeremiah. When he was born, my brother and I went to the hospital and took photos and each of us got to hold the baby.
While in my arms, I said to the baby, “You are precious.” And in response, he smiled at me. My brother said, “He heard you.” I was elated, because I knew he heard and received the affirmation.
After we said our goodbyes, my brother and I walked back to the elevators. We talked about how this baby boy was now keeping the Mitchell name going—he is the future generation of the Mitchell family.
The Tarot card I pulled for today, the 10 of Coins, is often cited as the material wealth and prosperity card. And it is.
In addition to that, it is also the card of family and its generations.
For my brother, his son will be one part of the legacy he leaves behind. For my nephew, his children will be one part of the legacy he leaves behind.
It’s different for me. Never having had any children of my own, my legacy has been in my name. I am the third in the line of James Himm Mitchells; both my father and my grandfather before him have carried the name. I remember recently telling a service representative my name for the situation being handled over the phone, and she immediately asked, “Himm—is that a family name?” Smart woman.
So, for today, consider this idea of generations and family legacies with regard to the 10 of Coins. What has been passed down to you in your own family—and what are you passing down to future generations?
