Weekly Affirmation Card for January 30th – February 5th
In the image of this card, an artist paints on a large canvas on the floor of her studio. It brings to my mind a friend, who was an artist in life (she has passed on). When I met her and found out she was an artist, I asked, “What do you paint?” And she said, “I paint God.” I knew I had to see her work. As it turned out, she had many shows displaying these works, sharing her perspective of God (which was based on quantum physics).
With the image, the affirmation, and the story in mind, the message of the card is to share your creative spirit with the world.
If you’re like most people, though, when you think of creativity, you may automatically think of the artist, the musician, or the poet – and then think you aren’t creative, in comparison.
If you believe that’s true, I’ll let you in on a little secret: You ARE creative. Every single one of us is a creative being.
You may not be an artist like the one depicted on the card, but you do create using your own media (paint being a medium and different forms of art are media). You possess your own form of creative self-expression – and you have a way to express how you see life based on your “first-hand” experience.
Your life has been your canvas, and this may be the time to share that “work.” With that in mind, what “message” do you have to share that would be of benefit to others?
Going with the artist, a painting conveys a message to each person who views it, as art can be emotionally evocative. In one sense, the artist has something he or she wants to convey, but each person who views the work can also have their own message to take away from the experience (art being both objective and subjective).
You may be hesitant because you’re concerned with what people might think or say, that you fear the criticism or judgment of others. I will admit it is a challenge of being visible and going public with your work, whatever form it takes.
But here’s the thing: If not now, when? There may never come the day and time when everyone will get you or your “work,” so why wait? Why deprive the people who will resonate with you and your creative vision the pleasure of the experience?
Affirm: I am a creative force in the universe.
Deck: The Re-Language Affirmation Oracle, a new deck in development by James Himm Mitchell.
