Weekly Affirmation Card for March 6th – 12th
In the image of “I gently bring my awareness back to the present moment,” a man sits in meditation outdoors; his eyes are closed as he takes in the now moment he is experiencing.
For me, this card reflects what Echkart Tolle refers to as “present mind” or “present thinking,” the chief takeaway I personally got from reading his book “The Power of Now.” While meditating, I place attention on the moments when my mind goes to either “past thinking” of “future thinking” and gently bring my attention back to the present moment.
With that story in mind, this card asks you to consider how you can practice being in the present more.
Keeping with the image, one possible way is meditation – with the intention of being present with your surroundings (that can be both indoors and outdoors). The meditation process can be either a passive form (sitting) or an active form (like walking). Keeping with the outdoors and the man being barefoot, another possibility is grounding. Grounding not only reconnects you to the earth, but also encourages being present as you experience that reconnection.
However you choose to do it, the “I gently bring my awareness back to the present moment” card is about consciously tuning in to the here and now – and potentially expanding your awareness in the process.
