Weekly Affirmation Card for March 13th – 19th
In the visual, a girl looks at herself in a mirror, symbolizing reflecting on your self-image. This may be a time to reflect on the image you’re projecting both to yourself and to others – Is that image true for you (at this stage in your life)?
“I am true to myself” can also suggest what you might need to face (admit) – possibly facing an aspect of yourself that you’re having difficulty seeing (identifying/identifying with). If that’s the case, “I am true to myself” is a message to find ways to embrace that aspect.
One way would be to do some Mirror Work, a process introduced by the late Louise Hay. You stand in front of a mirror, and as you look at yourself (look yourself in the face), you say, “I love you.” Notice any thoughts and feelings you have – especially the more challenging ones. Ask yourself, “Whose ‘voice’ is that?” You may “identify” thoughts about yourself you internalized from outside sources (meaning how others see/saw you) – and those “reflections” may not be accurate (the truth).
In my opinion, the purpose of Mirror Work is to get you to like (and even love) what you see, to be pleased with yourself (and not in an egoic way). And don’t let the “simplicity” of the process fool you: It isn’t just “cosmetic” – it has the potential to go deep, beneath the surface.
Love the person you were. Love the person you are now. And love the person you are on the path of becoming. Love all of you in your time of self-reflection.
