Card of the Week: Traveling the Worlds
In the literal sense, I conceived this card to mean travel – a time of possibly sightseeing, of going around the world, of globetrotting. Whatever the destination, Traveling the Worlds would imply there’s a bit of a commute involved (like going to another state or country).
But Traveling the Worlds can also take on a more metaphorical slant; with that in mind, Traveling the Worlds can turn up to indicate a journey, a trek, or a pilgrimage – either of a personal or spiritual nature.
The astronaut symbolizes the Explorer archetype, suggesting entering into a time of searching and discovery – “seeing what’s out there” – as a way to expand/raise consciousness. You’re exploring both your inner and outer “space” as the way to better understand yourself and the world around you.
The road symbolizes your path in life; in this context, Traveling the Worlds might suggest exploring the road ahead, wanting to see what could potentially be “down the road” for you.
Another possibility is that the road symbolizes “the open road,” keeping with the Explorer (astronaut) need for independence and freedom (in other words, “space”). What step could you take on your path (road) that would “free you up” to possibly explore something new and different? Would you be willing to take that step?
For me, the sky is a reference to the element air, which can symbolize the mind and consciousness. Whatever the specifics for you, Traveling the Worlds appears today to suggest that the “atmosphere” is right to consider other possibilities (the hanging planets) – to explore your options and broaden your horizons – as you prepare for the next leg of your journey.
